A team of researchers at the National Institute for Energy Innovation announced a major advancement in battery technology this week. The scientists developed a new composite material capable of increasing charging efficiency while reducing long-term degradation.
Laboratory testing showed prototype batteries charging up to 70% faster than conventional lithium-ion cells. Researchers also reported improved thermal stability, a key concern for electric vehicles and portable electronics.
While commercial adoption could still take several years, experts say the findings may help accelerate the transition toward renewable energy systems and more efficient consumer devices.
The research paper is expected to undergo peer review later this summer.
